Washington Avenue is a St. Louis based band that plays a mix of modern Indie Rock, Pop, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Country, and Punk with a wide variety of influences spanning various genres and decades. All four musicians, Eli Boyer, Payton Hutson, Ben Huss, and Ridge Bickel are natives of the Jefferson County area and had been playing individually for over ten years before forming the band. Formed during the summer of 2020, Washington Avenue did not start playing and recording together until the following year. In August 2021, their debut single “Far Away” was released. In 2022 and 2023, they released the Locked in the Gallery album and two singles while performing frequently in the St. Louis area. Each member has their own specific favorite artists and styles that have meshed well to form the unique sound of Washington Avenue.
The band’s popularity has grown drastically through social media platforms Instagram and TikTok due to their songs “80s Movie” and “Far Away.” Since late 2023, Washington Avenue has been frequently playing all over the Midwest including at local venues, Humphrey’s Midtown in St. Louis, The Midwestern, Tin Roof St. Louis, and the annual St. Patrick’s Day Party in downtown Davenport, Iowa. These high energy shows have ensured their popularity and growing success in addition to helping the band grow a loyal local following, gaining them the reputation of being St. Louis’ “Hometown Heroes.” Their most recent single, “I’m Not Sorry” was released in January 2025 on all streaming platforms! The band is currently working on an EP which will be released sometime soon.
